Having the appropriate clothing and gear will add to the enjoyment of your guided fly fishing trip or class. Listed below are the basic items you may need for fishing in the Colorado high country. Mountain weather can change suddenly, thus we recommend dressing in several layers so you can adjust with the changing conditions.
- Wool or fleece socks
- Fishing vest
- Long underwear
- Terminal tackle*
- Gloves
- Brimmed hat or cap
- Quick dry pants
- Rain gear
- Polarized sunglasses
- Sun block and lip balm
- Insect repellent
- Day pack/back pack
- Water bottle
- Waders*
- Fly rod/reel 4-6 weight preferred*
*We can and do provide rods, reels, waders, flies, and leaders on our guided trips.
Fishing licenses are not included in guide fees. If you take a class at the BQA depending on the class you take these items may or may not be included. Please make sure you ask so we can make your experience with us a memorable one. Most of these items can also be purchased at The Blue Quill Angler.
